to address the cancellation of her latest bookstore appearance and, in turn, wrote a moving note about the importance of self-care. Yup, Miz Dunham is advocating for people to take those precious sick days!

After one follower on >Twitter

attempted to shame the 30-year-old for canceling with an anecdote about returning to work six days after having a C-section, the A-lister clapped back:

This was a response yesterday when I said I would be cancelling an appearance at a bookstore because I was sick. At first it made me laugh a lot- like, oh, I'm sorry, I left your award in the car. But then I really contemplated how dark it is that our culture prizes these speedy recovery narratives because guess what? They're actually ways to keep women from feeling fucking pissed that they don't have proper maternity leave or medical and family care resources. We may not have an imminent policy change on the way, but we can change the way we talk about this stuff, and treat childbirth (or fatherhood! Or illness!) as the serious and personal journeys that they are. #leftyourawardinthecar #nooffense #paidfamilyleaveforallA photo posted by Lena Dunham (@lenadunham) on Nov 27, 2016 at 11:54am PST

Can we get an AMEN?? Seriously though, Lena just turned one internet troll's attempt at shade into a thought provoking note about policy change for medical leave — bravo!

Nonetheless, we hope the Not That Kind Of Girl author isn't sick with anything too serious. As you may recall, the filmmaker opened up last year about her lengthy battle with endometriosis in one edition of her Lenny Letter. Not to mention, it IS flu season!

Get better soon, girl!
